Christmas Lights: Cape Cod, South Shore, South Coast

Image
We got out on the roads to check some Christmas/holiday lights. It's a slightly less intrusive form of caroling. We're not part of the War On Christmas, we just say "holiday" lights because one of our photographers took a picture of a car wash, and we don't know the religion of whoever runs the Scrub-a-Dub. We're not the best shutterbugs to start with, and we're shooting with phones out of moving cars on misty nights. We did get out to see what we could see, so enjoy our efforts even if the results are blurry. We saw heroic lighting by both towns like Mashpee, and by this dude in the video below, from the Ponds Of Plymouth. We mainly did Plymouth, Mashpee, Falmouth, Barnstable, Sandwich, Wareham and Bourne. I can't rule out Duxbury, either. We caught Santa in the act. Santa looks suspiciously like the Plymouth Lawn Yeti. Steve handled the Cape, and this was his favorite decoration. He says his phone couldn't capture the right/darker shade of purple

Cranberry Harvest, Plymouth, Bourne, Wareham

As Thanksgiving draws near, we thought we'd take you to Plymouth for a bit of cranberry harvesting. We were called Cranberry County Magazine for a while, and this guy was our logo for about 8 years. I probably owe him a share of the profits, which- sucks to be him- would be about $7.   These shots were from Plymouth, Carver, Bourne and Wareham. They are from prior articles. We stayed out of the bogs this year. We are not familiar with the Covid protocols for each individual farm, so we played it safe. Cranberry thresher machine thingy ... in action! That machine makes the berries float, and then the workers gather them up and a machine sucks them into a truck. We have all parts of that process in this article somewhere, although they are somewhat shambolic chronologically.  We got in real close for some shots, which they used to let you do before the Coronavirus came around. Wisconsin, a much larger state physically, produces more cranberries than Massachusetts does. However, they

The End Of Our Fall Foliage Season

November foliage! We are well past peak, but you can still see color if you hunt around a bit.  I'd say that 99% of our colors are gone, and leaf drop is major... but every picture here is from the last week, mostly Duxbury, Plymouth, Halifax, Hingham, Marion, Rochester, Fairhaven, Middleboro, Bourne, Wareham, Sandwich, Mashpee, Mattapoisett, and those sort of towns. One of these may be New Beige, which is not an easy score unless you work the edges of the town. I'd strongly recommend getting as South and as Coastal as you can. Again, most of the leaves are gone, and you'll really have to Want it, but you can still catch some if you hunt hard enough. I'm pretty sure this is Duxbury, and I took it last Saturday. I drove by it on Tuesday, and all the leaves had dropped. My sister's crabapple tree The guy in the lower left is the Google Image Search result you get if you type in "The look you get when a car suddenly veers off the road, parks in front of you, the
